G211 / Main Switch

G211

I’m putting these 2 bands together, because G211 basically formed from Main Switch. G211 was my 1st full-time band in State College. This band was crucial for teaching me exactly what I do not want in a band! Off stage, drama was a feature…not a bug. However, on stage we played really well together!

I had a long piece written to explain this band, but it’s actually pretty easy to simplify what I was gonna say. In the end, all of their drama and general douchebaggery, never got them anywhere. It didn’t create the success that they were apparently willing to burn people for and none of them still play music. The lesson learned here was, don’t be a dick!

The house party videos below are from the first version of the band. This was also the only full “show” that I played with them. Unfortunately, there are no video from the 2nd version of the band. Facebook was brand new at the time and cell phone video was pretty primitive.

Main Switch

I ran sound for the first 2 versions of this band and then played bass in the 3rd iteration, which was very short-lived. This band and all its drunken/drug insanity, was ultimately responsible for the formation of G211.

The one show that I played with these guys, was the first time that I ever played a full gig. Before this, I was either running sound for a previous version of this band or playing bass on one song a night, as I ran sound for a band called Then Again.

Basically, I only played one show with Main Switch (v3) because the singer/guitar player was a raging drunk and the drummer was a total cokehead. The show actually went OK, but the drugs and general negativity were all around the bar that night. Someone even tried to sell me heroine in the parking lot. I knew that I had to get far away from those people.

I probably have more videos of this show, but I’d have to dig them out…and, I really don’t care that much.
